Personally, I love the idea of making New Years resolutions! Progression and ambition are both very important to me - I hate the idea of always remaining the same, never moving forward with my life - and the new start that the new year brings feels like such a great time that we should grab, to start improving certain aspects of our lives. However, I know that lots of people can find this a little tedious, that setting unrealistic goals for ourselves only paves our way for disappointment and anyway, we should be trying to improve ourselves all year round, not only on January 1st (or 2nd...!). To some extent, I agree with this view, which is why I paired this post with my 'Ten Christmas Wishes' post on Blogmas #13. In that post, I allowed myself to dream big, be completely unrealistic and just write about all the things in the world that I most wanted. Now, I am going to come back down to earth a little bit and concentrate this post more on real-life goals that I want to set for myself for 2017. It's (unsurprisingly) more difficult!
I think it's important to remember that these goals are things that are important to me RIGHT NOW, and that throughout the year they can, and probably will, change. This is completely fine! I expect things to change and circumstances to alter, which in turn alters one's outlook and position in life. But, as I always say, my blog is such a wonderful outlet for myself, something that I can reread over and over and look back on. I can imagine that it will be nice in a year's time, say, to look back at this post and remember which goals were most important to me now, on December 20th 2016. Hopefully I will have achieved at least some, maybe even expanded on some that I didn't expect.
In any case, I have put a lot of thought into what I want to achieve next year. Some are work related, some are more persona. But I made sure that they were all things that are realistic, as they are all within my control or could help me with achieving things that are more outside of my control, like getting my dream job, for instance. It has been really fun to think hard and consider what my goals for 2017 should be and as we approach the end of this year, whatever this year has meant for you, I encourage you to think about your goals too.
Goals for 2017:
🌠 To plan and see through at least one of my own creative projects.
🌠 To put more time, energy and money into seeing more of my best friends who live far away.
🌠 To keep up with the Paleo Diet as much as I can.
🌠 To make sure I am always the most prepared I can be.
🌠 To keep up my blog.
🌠 To avoid stupid or unnecessary conflicts.
🌠 To always remember my integrity and self-worth.
🌠 To get my bikes fixed (yep... still haven't done that...)
🌠 To be more on top of my finances.
🌠 To worry and stress less.
